Strong thematic fit with WFBA’s mission. The Trust’s stated priorities include:

• “Access and participation in the arts for those who have least access to them with emphasis on choirs and singing to build community and bring people together”
• “Support for charities seeking to engage with, and inspire, young people on the fringes of society through music and drama projects to improve their employability and diminish the risk of social exclusion”

The outreach workshops and Year 4 school brass teaching programmes map well against both priorities. The emphasis on community-building through music also aligns with WFBA’s cross-age offer.

However, two hard blockers prevent application in 2026:

1. Must be a UK-registered charity — WFBA’s registration is pending
2. Must have audited annual accounts — a new charity won’t have these for at least 12 months post-registration

Grant size (£500–£8,000) is realistic for a first application. The fact that grants are unrestricted for charities with income under £250,000 is attractive.
